He's sort of like Madonna, or Prince...

Somebody should tell this fellow that if Rembrandt had a brother named Murray, he'd be named Murray van Rijn.

Haven't heard from you for a while.

Actually, the Dutch of Rembrandt's day were rather free in naming. For example Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek, friend of the painter Vermeer and effectively the inventor of the microscope (for having first made scientific use of it) bears what we think of a a surname because he lived, as an adult, at the corner of Lion Street.
